What is Sciton STAR treatment?

The Sciton Skin Tightening And Rejuvenation (STAR) treatment is a combination of the BBL Broadband light with the SknTyte Infrared technology to address the full spectrum of skin conditions associated with aging, active lifestyle and skin damage.

How does the STAR treatment work?

The SkinTyte infrared technology addresses skin laxity by deeply heating dermal collagen promoting partial denaturation and contraction of collagen. This initiates the body’s natural healing process creating a renewed collagen foundation leading to firmer, tighter skin and a more youthful appearance.

On the other hand, by selecting the appropriate wavelength or filter, the BBL broadband light energy allows your physician to precisely target and eliminate unwanted melanin responsible for pigmented lesions and many of the fine vessels that cause redness. The photothermal energy will also gently heat up the upper layers of your skin thereby stimulating your skin cells to generate new collagen, giving your rejuvenated skin a smoother and more vibrant glow.

What is the treatment like?

The SkinTyte energy is delivered in a sequence of rapid, gentle pulses while cooling and protecting the entire treated surface. Powerful coooling maintains the outer surface of your skin at cool temperature before, during and after each pulseproviding you a comfortable and safe procedure. A series of pulses will be repeated over the treatment area to ensure best results.

The BBL broadband light is also non-invasive and safe with minimal discomfort. You may briefly feel a rubber band snap or warm sensation as the light is absorbed by the targeted areas.

Your eyes will be protected with safety shields and the STAR procedure may take up to half an hour or so depending on the size of the area to be treated.

How many treatment will I need?

A series of 3 to 5 treatments, spaced 4 weeks apart is typical of most patients. Your physician will personalize a STAR treatment plan based on the level of improvement you desire.

How long will it take to recover?

This is a non-invasive and gentle procedure with virtually no downtime. In most cases, you will be able to return to work, apply light makeup, and resume most of your activitites right away.

What should I expect after the treatment?

You may experience some mild redness in the treated area immediately after which should dresolve within the hour. For skin tightening, full results often take up to 4 months as the collagen foundation of the skin is rebuilt and strengthened. You will experience improvement in the skin laxity and reduction in surface irregularity.

For some pigmented lesions you will see a darkening of the treated area followed by fading and flaking off at a later stage. Your treated skin will also feel smoother with fine wrinkles and pores being less noticeable.

What area can be treated?

STAR treatments are safe for all skin types and can be performed on any area of the body where an improvement in your skin’s firmness, clarity and texture is desired. Popular areas include the face, neck, abdomen and hands. You should consult with your physician regarding the treatment options that are best for you.

What aftercare do I need?

It is important to follow your physician’s instructions. You may be given some skin care products and instructions on how to use them. Your skin will be sensitive to ultra-violet light, so you must avoid direct sun exposure until full recovery. Protect your skin with a good sunscreen whenever you go outdoors.
