Skin injury can cause scarring.
Although nothing can restore the original state of the skin, there are techniques to reduce the appearance of the scar.
Different types of scarring require different treatment strategies. Common strategies include:
- Acne scar – injection, subcision and fractional CO2 laser skin resurfacing can be used to improve acne scars.
- Keloid scar – scar can be treated by steroid injections to flatten or soften the scar. Laser combined with steroid injections are often used to achieve better results.
- Depressed scar – fractional CO2 laser skin resurfacing can improve the appearance of depressed scars by stimulating new collagen formation.
